Armidale Playhouse Prompt - September 2003

Play Readings

Our series of Sunday play readings starts this Sunday at 2:30pm and runs through to the beginning of October. Come along and participate in the readings and in discussions about the plays afterwards. The program is:
7 Sept - The Wild Guys
14 Sept - Proof
21 Sept - Urinetown
28 Sept - A Voyage Round My Father
5 Oct - Mother Said I Never Should
These are all interesting plays and may be considered for future production

Cinderella

This has been cast and is in rehearsal. It promises to be a lot of fun and quite spectacular. It goes on in the Arts Theatre at the end of November.

The Laramie Project

This was a fascinating and quite moving piece of theatre. Fabulous was one word that frequently described it. Congratulations to Martin Mantle and his cast.

Next year's program

We're starting to think about what we're going to do next year. Barbara Albury will probably do a Chekhov (or The Good Doctor) in August and Jean Freer will do Lend Me a Tenor in October. Other suggestions are: Cabaret; The Vagina Monologues (possibly early in 2005); Love Letters; The Woman in Black, and Godspell. We still need some more suggestions particularly for a show right at the beginning of the year (since most of the possible directors for the above want the second half of the year!) so if you have any ideas (even one-act plays since we can put several together in one night) come along to a meeting.

Old Posters

We are putting up a display of old Playhouse posters (laminated) in the foyer. If anyone has copies of old posters that they're prepared to donate (or lend for copying) please contact Martin Mantle 6771 4541 or Benjamin Thorn 6772 5889.
