Armidale Playhouse Prompt - January 2004

Poetry and Passion at the Playhouse - Auditions

Our first show this year will be a short one week season of staged poetry readings and performances put on in conjunction with Poetzinc. It will be directed by Kristin Adair and Benjamin Thorn. We've put together about 30 short pieces by local writers (from 11 words to about 6 minutes in length) which range from the funny and whimsical through to dark and alarming.

There are opportunities for people of all ages, genders and shapes and this is a great chance appear on stage without the commitment of time that most productions require.

Performances will be from 16 to 18 March, with a matinee on the Saturday. Auditions are on Sunday 1 Feb at 2pm and Tuesday 3 Feb at 7:30pm. We're also looming for people interested in working backstage. For further information contact Kristin on 6771 4077 or Benjamin on 6772 5889.

Hildegard

Hildegard is coming to the Ursuline Chapel from 5–21 March. Hildegard von Bingen, the archetypal modern woman, was born in 1098. Her courage in a male dominated world was extraordinary. As abbess and visionary, she challenged both Pope and Emperor and was for a time excommunicated.
Philosopher, politician, composer, healer and painter, her writings and music are known throughout the world and she has become a figure of wisdom and inspiration in our troubled times.

She appears on stage in a play with music and song presented by Barbara Albury and Mabs Buck with the Spectrum Musicae Choir conducted by Greg McPhan. Bookings: Top Shelf Books 6771 1079 and Armidale Visitors Centre 6772 4655.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the committee to which everyone is welcome will be on Monday 2 February at the Playhouse at 7:30pm. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.
