Armidale Playhouse Prompt - March 2004

Poetry and Passion at the Playhouse

Don't miss our first show which is on only next week. It's a fun little show (with a few more serious moments) and it's a great opportunity to catch up with the work of 19 local writers from Poetzinc.
30 short pieces by local writers cover the whole gamut from quirky little fables to longer pieces about the vagaries of relationships and death and murder. We've had a lot of fun rehearsing it and it should be a great night. Performances will be from 18–20 March, at 8pm with a matinee on Saturday 20 March at 2pm. Tickets at the door.

AUDITIONS: The Good Doctor

Our next major production, going on in August will be Neil Simon's version of Chekhov short stories The Good Doctor (we just have to celebrate the centenary of Chekhov's death). The stories include: The Sneeze, Surgery, The Seduction, The Audition and Too Late for Happiness. It will be directed by Barbara Albury.

It has a cast of five: three men and two women of various ages. Auditions will be on Sunday 4 April 11am–1pm and Tuesday 6 April 7:30pm. Barbara is also looking for a production team, so if you're interested in any of the following she needs you: lighting design and operation, stage manager, producer, sound, costume design, assistant director.

Anyone interested in acting or production should contact Barbara on 6772 9529 after 29 March (Until then she is tied up with Hildegard).

I Do! I Do!

Apologies to all those who showed up to audition for this show. We thought we could get it on before the Music Man but the logistics proved intractable. Don't despair however, it will go on later in the year (November/December) directed by Kristin Adair. Just to remind you, it's a two hander musical for a man and a woman who need to be able to age from their twenties to their seventies on stage. We do have scripts so if you're interested contact Gordon.

Lend Me a Tenor

After The Good Doctor our next show will be Lend Me a Tenor to be directed by Jean Freer. Auditions will be in July but anyone interested could contact Jean on 6772 8831.

Annual General Meeting

The Playhouse Annual General Meeting will be on Monday 3 May at 7:30pm. You might like to start thinking about getting involved in the committee. We always need new blood.

Hildegard

This Mabs Buck and Barbara Albury production is still running at the Ursuline Chapel for the next two weeks. Barbara does a terrific job as Hildegard and the music is great. Well worth seeing. Bookings: Top Shelf Books 6771 1079 and Armidale Visitors Centre 6772 4655.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the committee to which everyone is welcome will be on Monday 5 April at the Playhouse at 7:30pm. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.
