The Good Doctor

Our next major production, going on in August will be Neil Simon's version of Chekhov short stories The Good Doctor. It will be directed by Barbara Albury.

The cast has not yet been finalised and Barbara is still looking for a man and a woman aged 30s to 50s who are good at comedy. If you are interested ring Barbara on 6772 9529. Barbara is also looking for a production team, so if you're interested in any of the following she needs you: lighting design and operation, stage manager, production manager, sound, assistant director.

From Russia with Love?

Barbara is also planning to promote a mini Russian cultural festival/celebration in conjunction with the production of the Good Doctor. This will involve films, a night of talks, poetry, music and food, Stanislavsky acting workshops etc. She would however like someone to help co-ordinate this. It would be a great opportunity for someone interested in getting experience in event co-ordination. Again contact Barbara on 6772 9529.

Annual General Meeting

The Playhouse Annual General Meeting will be on Monday 3 May at 7:30pm. You might like to start thinking about getting involved in the committee. We always need new blood.

Working Bee

Our last working bee achieved a lot but there is still more to be done so we're planning another for Sunday 9 May starting at 9am. Come along and get involved, meet lots of exciting people and discover what's really hidden in the bowels of the Playhouse!

Poetry and Passion

This short season went off well with good audience response to the staging of the works of local poets. Thanks to Kristin Adair and Benjamin Thorn and their cast who put it all together.

Forthcoming Productions

After The Good Doctor our next show will be Lend Me a Tenor to be directed by Jean Freer. This is a lovely farce and should be great fun. Auditions will be in July but anyone interested could contact Jean on 6772 8831.

Our final show for the year will be I Do! I Do! to be directed by Kristin Adair. This is a two hander musical that charts 50 years of a marriage. Anyone interested should contact Kristin on 6771 4077.

Membership

Membership for most people is now either due or will be shortly. Please renew if possible since your support helps keep the Playhouse running.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the committee to which everyone is welcome will be on Monday 3 May at the Playhouse after the AGM at 7:30pm. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.
