Introducing your new (well sort of) committee!

At the Annual General Meeting on 3 May the following positions were filled:

The Good Doctor

Barbara Albury's production of Neil Simon's version of Chekhov short stories The Good Doctor is already in rehearsal and promises to be a great show. It will run from 4–22 August. She has a good cast including: Gordon Cope, Susan Smith, Christian Evans, Jim Harrop, Jan Wyles, James Mort and Gemma & Jared Green.

We are looking for the following props to get the right late 19th Century Russian ambience: lots of old ornate picture frames (any size but preferably largish); pince nez; old fashioned hairbrush; old fashioned lamps; a folding screen; any props connected with dentistry; a samovar; a pen and paper set; some plain (preferably matching) kitchen chairs; a bowl and jug for washing; a parasol. If you have any of the above and are prepared to lend them please ring Barbara on 6772 9529. Barbara is also still looking for a lighting designer and sound operator.

To Russia with Love

In conjunction with The Good Doctor we're having a mini Russian cultural festival/ celebration. This will include Vodka and Verse at Caffiends on 22 July, a screening of Dr Zhivago at the Belgrave cinema on 26 July and Stanislavsky acting workshops with Sue Fell on the first three weekends in August. Anyone who'd like to help co-ordinate these should contact Barbara on 6772 9529 or Gordon on 6772 8449.

Forthcoming Productions

After The Good Doctor our next show will be Lend Me a Tenor to be directed by Jean Freer. This is a lovely farce and should be great fun. Auditions will be in July but anyone interested could contact Jean on 6772 8831.

Our final show for the year will be I Do! I Do! to be directed by Kristin Adair. This is a two hander musical that charts 50 years of a marriage. Anyone interested should contact Kristin on 6771 4077.

Next Meeting

The next meeting of the committee to which everyone is welcome will be on Monday 7 June at the Playhouse at 7:30pm. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month.
