| Armidale Playhouse Prompt - July 2006
Your New Committee
At the Annual General Meeting on 3 July the following new (well newish) committee was elected:
President: Gordon Cope
Vice President and Treasurer: Barbara Albury
Secretary: Benjamin Thorn
Fund Raiser: Judi Lamb
Committee Members:
Jean Freer,
Jim Harrop,
Warren Bartik
At the risk of offering the famous Chinese curse, it looks as if they might have an interesting time. Committee meetings to which everyone is welcome are held on the first Monday of each month. Do come along and join in.
Stuff Happens – Reading
There will be a reading of David Hare’s play Stuff Happens, which is his take on how the Bush administration got involved in Iraq, on Sunday 23 July at 2pm at the showground pavilion. Gordon has promised that he’ll try to make it warm! It is a fascinating play, which would be tricky to cast in a full production, so this is a good opportunity to get a feel for it. Anyone interested in reading a part should contact Gordon (0403 392 531) to get a copy of the script.
Meeting on Playhouse Future
There will be a special meeting of Playhouse members on Sunday 30 June at 2pm at the showground pavilion to discuss the future of the Playhouse and specifically the possibility of selling our current premises.
Judi Lamb and Chris Ross-Smith have been investigating the financial and other implications of several alternative options for the Playhouse’s future and these will also be presented and discussed.
It is important that we have the full backing of our membership for any future developments so please come if you can.
This Year’s & Next Year’s Program
We’ve been working on our program for the rest of this year and next year with the aim of being able to advertise the full years program. Barbara Albury is the program coordinator. The current plan (which is fairly firm) is:
