Armidale Playhouse Prompt - February 2007

Favourite Shorts
- Auditions

Our second season of the year is also a collection of short pieces being co-ordinated by Kate Coward with various directors. She’s put together a great bunch of short plays (three to 15 minutes long) ranging from the whimsical to the absurd. There are roles for just about anyone and time commitment need not be a problem given the length of some of the pieces. Auditions will be held on Sunday 25 February at 12noon and Tuesday 27 February at 7pm at the Playhouse. Performances will be at the St Kilda Hotel between 7 and 27 of May. Kate is also still looking for potential directors for a couple of the pieces. So if you’re interested or want more details about auditions or the show contact her on 6771 1872 or 0400 488 546.

Vincent in Brixton
- Auditions

Barbara Albury will be directing this award winning play about the artist Vincent van Gogh when he was working in London. He was young, in love, and was also beginning to draw. It is a play about art, passion and creativity. Performances will be from 23 August till 9 September. Cast needed is 2 men (between 17 and 35) and 2 women (between 17 and 30). Auditions on Monday 12 March at 7pm and Saturday 17 March at 3pm. For further information contact Barbara Albury on 6772 9529.

Rhymes and Rumours on Stage

Rehearsals are underway for our first show of the year Rhymes and Rumours on Stage, another of our collaborations with Poetzinc after Poetry and Passion at the Playhouse and Memories, Romance and Something Grittier. It is directed again by Benjamin Thorn. We have some fascinating, and fun, pieces by our local writers and as usual this will be an extravaganza of staged poetry (and other writing) with music and visuals. Performances will be at the New England Art Museum, making use of their empty space while they have no exhibitions on 23, 24 25, 29, 30, 31 March. All performances at 8pm except Sunday 25 March which is at 2:30pm. Tickets are $10 ($5 for primary age children) and will be available at the door. We’re still looking for back stage people (stage management, lighting etc) so if you’re interested contact Benjamin Thorn 6772 5889.

Sweeney Todd

Our final show of the year will be Sweeney Todd, directed by Jean Freer with Bruce Menzies as musical director. A visit to the barber or the pie shop will never be the same after our performances in November!

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat - Auditions

The Armidale Musical Society is doing Joseph this year and auditions will be on 20 and 22 of February at 7:30pm at Armidale High School. Further information form Neil Horton on 6772 2512.
